Congressman Dan Meuser, who represents Pennsylvania’s 9th congressional district and serves as Chair of the House Financial Services Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, posted a series of updates on September 18, 2025, addressing issues related to assistive technology access and financial fraud.
In a post from September 18, Meuser highlighted his meeting with members of the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology (NCART), stating: “Yesterday, I met with members of the National Coalition for Assistive and Rehab Technology (NCART) to discuss the importance of ensuring access to Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) for individuals with disabilities. We spoke about the need for Medicare coverage of power standing”.
Later that day, Meuser addressed concerns about rising scams. He wrote: “Scams are growing more sophisticated every year. As Chair of the @FinancialCmte O&I Subcommittee, I’ve launched a new online resource to help families spot red flags, report fraud, and protect themselves. This is just the beginning of our Committee’s work.”
In a subsequent update on September 18, Meuser commented on a recent hearing: “Today’s hearing was no sham. @FinancialCmte Republicans are committed to understanding the threats facing our constituents and the factors contributing to the increase in financial fraud and scams. We need a whole-of-society approach.”
Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) includes specialized equipment designed to meet medical needs for people with disabilities or certain health conditions. Organizations like NCART advocate for broader Medicare coverage for these technologies in order to improve quality of life for individuals who rely on them.
The House Financial Services Committee’s Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee focuses on consumer protection efforts including addressing financial fraud and scams that have become increasingly sophisticated in recent years. Public education campaigns and resources are among measures being taken by lawmakers such as Congressman Meuser in response to these threats.
