WASHINGTON — Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) has announced the winners of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. The first-place winner’s artwork will be displayed for one year in the United States Capitol alongside other winning pieces from congressional districts across the country. The second-place entry will be showcased in Congressman Meuser’s Washington, D.C. office, and the third-place piece will be exhibited in his Pottsville District office.
The winners of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition are as follows: First Place goes to Arianna Yule for “Untitled” (The Barn), Second Place to Heidi Stone for “Untitled” (Mountain Scene), and Third Place to Sarah Tiver for “Untitled” (Chalet). All three students are from Schuylkill Haven Area High School.
The competition’s judging process was conducted blindly, with students’ names and school affiliations not disclosed during selection. It was only after the top three pieces were chosen that it became known all winners attend Schuylkill Haven High School. This highlights the strength of the school’s art program led by teacher Luke Ott.
Luke Ott is a committed art educator and artist based in Schuylkill County. He graduated from Blue Mountain High School in 2004 and earned a bachelor’s degree in art education from Kutztown University in 2008. Since 2009, he has been teaching at Schuylkill Haven Area High School. Ott also maintains a ceramic studio at home, where he pursues his artistic work, which has been recognized both nationally and internationally.
Congressman Meuser congratulated Arianna Yule on her first-place win: “Congratulations to Arianna Yule on her first-place entry—your talent and creativity stood out among many strong submissions,” said Congressman Meuser. He added that displaying her work at the U.S. Capitol is a significant opportunity. He also commended Heidi Stone and Sarah Tiver for their entries and thanked all participating students this year. Special recognition was given to Luke Ott for fostering young talent through his program at Schuylkill Haven High School.
An art show hosted by Congressman Meuser’s office took place at the Walk In Art Center in Schuylkill Haven on April 24, 2024, with sixteen students from Pennsylvania’s Ninth District participating.
