Congressman Dan Meuser, who represents Pennsylvania’s 9th congressional district, used his social media platform on August 7, 2025, to address two significant events: National Purple Heart Day and an incident involving wounded state troopers in Susquehanna County.
In a post marking the national observance, Meuser stated on August 7, “Today, on National Purple Heart Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who were wounded or gave their lives in combat while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Their sacrifice in defense of our nation will never be forgotten, and we remain deeply thankful for https://t.co/d6WN7zQ7xF”.
Later that day, he commented on an unfolding situation involving law enforcement officers. At 18:20 UTC on August 7, Meuser posted: “Our prayers are with the two injured troopers and their families. https://t.co/N9NYsLuV8g”.
Providing an update just over an hour later at 19:31 UTC, Meuser wrote: “Latest update from Susquehanna County: I’ve received word that, to the best of my knowledge, both troopers who were wounded are okay and are recovering. I’m sure your prayers made a difference. The shooter has now been apprehended and is in custody. No further details are”.
National Purple Heart Day is observed annually on August 7 to recognize U.S. military personnel who have been wounded or killed in action. Congressman Dan Meuser has served as a representative for Pennsylvania’s 9th district since January 2019.
