Congressman Dan Meuser, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania’s 9th district, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and related issues in early October 2025.

On October 2, Meuser encouraged viewers to watch his upcoming appearance on Fox Business, writing, “Tune in tomorrow morning, Friday, to Mornings with Maria on Fox Business at 6:20 am, for the latest on the Democrat-forced government shutdown and more.”

The following morning, October 3, he posted another update ahead of his television segment: “Up next this morning, I’ll be joining Mornings with Maria on @FoxBusiness at 6:20 am, for the latest on the Democrat-forced government shutdown, how we are fighting debanking, and working to protect American consumers from financial fraud and scams.”

Later that day, Meuser reiterated his position regarding responsibility for the shutdown. He stated: “This government shutdown is senseless and it’s driven entirely by Democrats who would rather play political games than work with us to responsibly fund the government. As I said on @MorningsMaria, Republicans didn’t ask for this shutdown. President Trump didn’t ask for this”.

Government shutdowns in the United States occur when Congress fails to pass appropriations legislation funding federal agencies. Such events can lead to furloughs of federal employees and disruptions in public services. Political disputes over budget priorities have led to several shutdowns in recent decades.

Meuser’s comments reflect ongoing partisan disagreements about fiscal policy and government funding negotiations in Washington.
