Congressman Dan Meuser, who represents Pennsylvania’s 9th Congressional District, posted a series of tweets on August 18 and 19, 2025, commenting on national law enforcement efforts and ongoing construction in Chicago.

On August 18, Meuser credited former President Donald Trump for recent developments in Washington D.C., stating: “President Trump’s decisive leadership is delivering results for our nation’s capital. Since the federal law enforcement presence in DC began, crime has dropped significantly. In just over a week, more than 300 dangerous criminals have been arrested, dozens of illegal firearms”.

The following day, Meuser promoted his upcoming appearance on Fox Business: “Tune in to The @EveningEdit on @FoxBusiness at 5:55pm. I’ll be talking about Republican momentum nationwide—and why Chicago residents are frustrated with the Obama Presidential Center construction.”

Later that evening, after joining “The Evening Edit,” Meuser posted further criticism regarding the Obama Presidential Center project: “Just joined the @EveningEdit to discuss the disaster that is the Obama Presidential Center. They should have called President Trump—he could have built it on time and under budget. Instead, Chicago taxpayers are on the hook for $200 million in road and utility costs, the project”.

The Obama Presidential Center has faced delays and increased costs since its announcement. Community groups and local residents have expressed concerns about financial impacts on taxpayers as well as potential disruptions caused by construction.

Meuser’s remarks reflect broader partisan debates over public infrastructure projects and law enforcement strategies across major U.S. cities.
