Grants have been awarded to several fire companies and emergency medical services in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania. The funding will help these organizations with building projects, equipment purchases or repairs, training, and debt reduction. This was announced by Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon).
The Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program was created by the state legislature and is managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency along with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The funds for this program come from revenue generated by slot machine gaming.
Among the recipients in the 102nd District are Bunker Hill Fire Co., Citizens Fire Co. No. 1, Fredericksburg Fire Co., Central Medical Ambulance, Keystone Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1, Kutztown Volunteer Community Fire Co., Mt. Zion Community Fire Co., Myerstown First Aid Unit, Neptune Fire Co. No. 1, Newmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., North Annville Fire Co., Northern Lebanon Fire and Emergency Services Inc., Preseverance Fire Co., Schaefferstown Emergency Medical Services, Schaefferstown Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, and Union Hose Fire Co. of Annville.
Rep. Diamond said: “All of us in Lebanon County are incredibly grateful for the tireless work of our first responders who answer the call 24/7. They are most often volunteers having to fundraise on top of training and responding to incidents, so hopefully these grants will ease the financial stressors a bit.”
