Two Republican members of Congress from Pennsylvania have expressed support for President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy troops to Los Angeles. The move comes in response to unrest in the city.

U.S. Representative Dan Meuser, who represents Luzerne County, criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles officials for their handling of the situation. Speaking at an event in Berwick, Meuser stated, “It should have been put out by the locals. It wasn’t. The president said, ‘If you can’t control it, we’re going to send in the National Guard.’ That’s what happened.”

Meuser’s comments reflect a broader support among some Republicans for federal intervention in local matters when deemed necessary.
