SUSQUEHANNA — A severe storm hit Susquehanna County and parts of southern New York on Thursday, causing significant damage. U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser, R-9, held a conference on Monday to discuss the situation and connect with residents.
“It’s just a great community, they jumped all over it,” Meuser stated. “I was in touch with the commissioners since Thursday afternoon, right after it occurred. We had 150-year-old trees had been uprooted. And they came through, 105-mile-an-hour winds. All kinds of hail, literally the size of golf balls.”
According to Meuser, meteorologists identified the weather event as a “cloud burst” rather than a tornado. “It was narrow and it hit some farms and some properties a lot worse than others. You couldn’t get through,” he explained.
