Findings from a report released by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, concluded that the Secret Service’s failure to share threat information allowed an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump last July in Butler, Pennsylvania. This outcome did not come as “much of a surprise,” according to Rep. Dan Meuser, who spoke to Newsmax on Sunday.

“There were many, many failures that took place, failures from leadership,” said the Pennsylvania Republican on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America Weekend.” He attributed blame to then-Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“Look, everything Mayorkas, Secretary Mayorkas, former secretary, thank God, touched was a disaster,” Meuser commented. He also mentioned that then-Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle shares responsibility.
