Americans lost more than $12 billion to scams in 2024, marking a 25% increase from the previous year, according to U.S. Rep. Dan Meuser. On Thursday, Meuser, who serves as chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, led a hearing called “Fraud in Focus: Exposing Financial Threats to American Families.”

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has reported that financial fraud and scams are rising concerns for families across the country.
