Rep. John Schlegel of Lebanon has issued a statement criticizing the budget proposal passed by House Democrats as fiscally irresponsible. He argues that the proposal lacks a financial sheet to reveal its true impact and warns that it could lead to a significant deficit, jeopardizing Pennsylvania’s fiscal future.

Schlegel expressed his opposition, stating, “Today, House Democrats passed a proposal that is both fiscally irresponsible and not a genuine attempt at creating an agreed-to foundation for a budget that works for the taxpayers of Pennsylvania.”

He also noted that the plan had not been negotiated between the House and Senate, adding, “In the end, this is a proposal that still needs a lot of work and was not negotiated between the House and the Senate. I am ‘no’ on this proposal and hope that a plan that works for all Pennsylvanians will be on our desks soon.”

The House passed House Bill 1330 with a vote of 105 to 97. The bill now moves to the Senate for further consideration.
