Today, Representative John Schlegel announced that $1.2 million in state gaming revenue will be distributed to three entities within his legislative district under the Local Share Account (LSA) program. This announcement was made from Harrisburg.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, oversees the allocation of funds from the state’s share of gaming revenue to local governments and programs annually.

The approved LSA grants include $500,000 for the City of Lebanon to modernize Lebanon Fire Department Station I. This project aims to accommodate both male and female firefighters by updating bathrooms, sleeping quarters, lighting, windows, replacing the sewer system, and making necessary HVAC upgrades.

Additionally, $400,000 will be provided to the Lebanon Valley Economic Development Corporation on behalf of WEPA Empowerment Center Inc. The funds are intended for rehabilitating its bilingual community-based workforce development center at 9 South Ninth St. in Lebanon. The project includes demolition work, constructing a new rear addition, roof repairs, and installing an ADA-compliant elevator.

North Lebanon Township will receive $300,000 to replace a structurally deficient 315-foot retaining wall along Jay Street. The project also involves repaving around the area and installing protective fencing.

“It was my pleasure to support these grants,” said Schlegel. “These funds will cover a significant portion of the total project costs and enhance the safety and well-being of the residents of our communities.”
