Senator Chris Gebhard, who represents Pennsylvania’s 48th Senate District, recently posted a series of updates on his social media account covering local celebrations, legislative developments, and historical exhibits.
On August 26, 2025, Gebhard marked a national celebration with a personal touch. He wrote, ” Happy National Dog Day! Celebrating with our two pups, Opal and Cooper. https://t.co/1dioPA7frs”.
The following day, on August 27, he highlighted educational reforms in Pennsylvania. In his post, Gebhard stated: “Happy to see this important trend growing across the country!
Here in Pennsylvania, my legislation was signed into law and requires every student take a half-credit personal finance course during high school, beginning in the 2026-27 school year.
https://t.co/GWoar4m6iY“. The new law mandates that all high school students in Pennsylvania will be required to complete a half-credit course in personal finance starting with the 2026-27 academic year. This move is part of broader efforts nationwide to improve financial literacy among young people.
On August 28, Gebhard turned attention to state history by promoting an exhibit: ” A new @PAHouseArchives exhibit highlights Speaker Jack Seltzer—owner of Seltzer’s Smokehouse Meats & the last PA House Speaker from Lebanon County (1979–80).
Located on the ground floor of the Irvis Building in Harrisburg! https://t.co/HB6P3FyZMh“. The exhibit features Jack Seltzer’s tenure as Speaker of the Pennsylvania House and his connection to Lebanon County.
Gebhard has served as state senator since winning a special election in May 2021 and has focused on education reform and community engagement throughout his tenure.
