Senator Chris Gebhard, who represents Pennsylvania’s 48th district, shared several legislative updates and community acknowledgments on his social media accounts this week.
On October 30, 2025, Gebhard announced the Senate’s approval of new measures targeting fraudulent telemarketing practices. He stated, “New protections from scammers and other deceitful telemarketers – including new limits on robocalls, new penalties and a ban on using AI or fake caller IDs to deceive consumers – were approved by the Senate”.
The following day, October 31, 2025, Gebhard highlighted progress on legislation aimed at supporting disabled veterans in Pennsylvania. He wrote, “Proud to share that my bill to close a gap in PA’s free hunting license program for disabled veterans passed the Senate Game & Fisheries Committee unanimously this week. Every veteran with a service-connected disability deserves equal recognition for their service.”
Later that same day, Gebhard extended congratulations to local law enforcement officials in Lebanon City. In his post he said, “Congratulations to Lebanon City’s new Police Chief, Eric Sims, and Captain Sean Buck on their promotions! I wish them both the best in their new roles and thank them for their continued service to our community.”
Gebhard has previously focused on consumer protection issues within Pennsylvania’s legislature. Efforts such as limiting robocalls and addressing misuse of artificial intelligence in telecommunications have been part of broader state-level attempts nationwide to combat scams targeting residents.
Additionally, Pennsylvania offers various benefits for veterans with service-connected disabilities. The state’s free hunting license program is one such benefit designed to recognize military service; recent legislative efforts have sought to address eligibility gaps so all qualifying veterans receive equal access.
