More than $270,000 in grants have been awarded to support fire companies and emergency medical services in the 102nd District. These funds will assist with building projects, equipment purchases or repairs, training, and debt reduction. The announcement was made by Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon).

The funding comes from the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, which is managed by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner. The program's funds are sourced from slot machine gaming proceeds.

“This is an important program that supports first responders without using tax dollars. These men and women are too often tasked with conducting fundraisers in addition to saving lives within their communities, so extra funding can ease that burden,” stated Diamond.

The recipient companies include Bellegrove Fire Co., Bunker Hill Fire Co., Citizens Fire Co. No. 1, Fredericksburg Fire Co. No. 1, Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, Keystone Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1, Myerstown First Aid Unit, Neptune Fire Co. No. 1, Newmanstown Volunteer Fire Co., Northern Lebanon Fire and Emergency Services Inc., Schaefferstown Emergency Medical Services Inc., Schaefferstown Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, Union Hose Fire Co. of Annville, and Union Water Works Fire Co.

To receive the funding, companies must file an agreement with the Office of State Fire Commissioner.
