Yesterday 20 students and 4 chaperones traveled to NYC. Their over-stuffed bus left NL at 5:45 am packed with 350 Coats, 170 blankets, Hershey’s Chocolate and Dieffenbach’s chips. The $1000 check they donated to St. Luke’s will fund their soup kitchen for 6 weeks. Both places were thankful for our help but our students were the real recipients of holiday joy. Volunteering at 2 different locations, the first group went to Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. The second group went to St. Luke’s Soup Kitchen and Clothing Bank. The bus returned lighter, but hearts were full. Thanks to every single community member, faculty supporter and student who donated and helped make this project a success.
