A poultry farm in Bethel Township, owned by Kevin and Lauren Snader, has been accepted into Pennsylvania's farmland preservation program, ensuring the land will remain dedicated to agriculture. The Pennsylvania Agriculture Land Preservation Board approved the farm's 153-acre conservation easement.
Rep. Russ Diamond (R-Lebanon) stated, "I commend the Snaders for taking this step to protect the land, so our children and grandchildren can grow up seeing how Pennsylvania’s farms feed the nation. The Snaders are thinking about the future at a time when they, like all poultry farmers, are facing unprecedented challenges and uncertainties related to avian influenza."
The Snaders’ property is one of 29 farms preserved statewide this week. The preservation program, established in the late 1980s, uses easements to prevent commercial or residential development on prime farmland.
